On the 5th of December, the birthday of St. Nicolaas, bishop of Myra, is traditionally celebrated amongst Dutch families. The Holy Bishop rides the roofs on a white horse escorted by his Moorish helpers who descend into the chimney of each home in order to leave a gift behind in the in the fire-places and stoves for those children that have behaved well.
This year Sinterklaas will arrive in Tallinn on Saturday, 6 December, where he would like to meet all small and not so small children at 16.00 in wine-bar Kolme Näoga Mees. Hot Chocolate and sweets will be on the menu.
Sinterklaas is asking for your help by purchasing a little present for your children. He also requests you to write a big note on the present with your child's name in capital letters; age has had its effect on his vision! The value of the present should be somewhere between 100 - 250 EEK.
If you are coming with your children I kindly ask you to send me their names, their ages, and the language spoken so that Sinterklaas would have time to prepare and learn the languages... Please, also include a small description of your child: what has he/she has done especially well this year, and on what he/she should still improve, what are his/her dreams, fears, wishes, likes and dislikes. This enables Sinterklaas to have a little chat with your child when handing the present. Please let me know before the 1 December with how many you will attend. Include the description of your children.
